How does the love compatibility calculator work?
This tool offers two distinct experiences. The name match turns two names into a playful, repeatable score: swapping their order does not affect the outcome. It does not attempt to infer feelings or personality from spelling. It is simply a game you can share.
The relationship quiz compares two people’s self-reported preferences across sixteen topics: communication, quality time, independence, adventures, future plans and conflict management. The number is a similarity score, not a prediction of romantic success.
An example of a useful relationship comparison
Suppose two people both rate their need for personal space at 5 out of 5, but answer 2 and 4 when asked about adventure. They share a meaningful preference and also have an interesting difference. Rather than claiming they are destined to succeed or fail, the result highlights possible conversations.
The formula adds up the absolute gaps across six 1–5 answers, divides by the maximum possible total gap of 24 and converts that into a percentage. Identical answers produce 100% similarity; opposite answers on every topic produce 0%. All topics have equal weight.
What really matters in a relationship?
Respect, listening, consent, aligned expectations and the willingness to discuss disagreement cannot be reduced to a single percentage. Partners can enjoy different hobbies and still understand each other very well.
Treat the quiz as a conversation starter, not a contest. Preferences are personal, may change over time and never tell the complete story of a relationship.
